SorcererLance's Influence Map

Sorry I haven't posted much guys, things've been rough trying to find a job around here... In the meantime, I realized I had this lying around and should post it.


1. Dragonball Z - what kid during the 90s wasn't a fan of DBZ? Superpowered guys who knew martial arts and can fire energy beams were always awesome (I know Superman kinda counts, but the flamboyant, full-body spandex always bugged me)

2. Tenchi Muyo - contrasting a bit from DBZ, Tenchi had a team of one guy with a harem of cute girls to help him out. The interesting thing was the girls not only served as fanservice, but as a hilarious source of comic relief and could actually hold their own in fights.
Fox, Vixen, Tatiana, Fiona, Eve and Katt more or less follow this example.

3. Project A-ko - a superpowered redheaded girl unwittingly causes havoc around her city while trying to have a normal life with her best friend while constantly being harassed by a rich classmate with access to hi-tech machinery... oh, and randomly toss in aliens and we've got a movie.
A-ko herself was a source of inspiration for Katt.

4. Samurai Pizza Cats - a team of cats in a futuristic Japan populated by robotic anthro characters run a pizza shop and are often called by the government to save the day as samurai.
Polly/Pururin was another source of inspiration for Katt

5. Animaniacs, Minerva Mink - funny, if somewhat embarrassing story with her... Yes, like most guys, I like her... but for some retarded reason I kept recycling that SAME hairstyle for my females for a good number of years.

6. 2 Stupid Dogs - one of two things that inspired me to start drawing... originally my characters were based on the design of Little Dog, but obviously as time went on, the influence stopped being as apparent.

7. Tail Concerto - a cute game that helped me with ideas for hairstyles and how to work with mouths when it came to canine muzzles.

8. Starfox - I always liked the idea of a team of fighters in the middle of a large-scale space war, which is the basis of one of my chapters of my story.

9. Final Fantasy 8 - say what you will, but this was my favorite Final Fantasy as a kid... and since I was kinda emo at the time, I kinda related to Squall. A lot of things were inspired from this game from Squall's hairstyle and scar, Rinoa's dress, evil female villains, gunblades, use of magic and the mythical beast Cerberus were the basis to a lot of ideas I later began using... even the evil sorceresses that went by their title followed by their name (Sorceress Edea, Sorceress Adel, Sorceress Ultimecia) brought in the name "SorcererLance" (Lance came from Lancelot due to my love of Arthurian literature)

10. Swat Kats - somewhat same idea with Starfox, only more limited to their local city.
Unsurprisingly, Callie was also another inspiration for Katt.

11. Darkfox & Mystee - This was one of the earliest images I came across the internet around 98/99. The character "Darkfox" was the main basis for my character Lance.

12. Sonic the Hedgehog - both the Saturday morning TV show and the comics fascinated me with a dark atmosphere that paled in comparison to most of the more kid-friendly shows I've seen at the time. It pretty much wasn't shy to remind the viewers that there can be casualties when fighting against the enemy.
Sally inspired Vixen while the OVA's Princess Sara, yet again, was a basis for Katt

13. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link - Link's hairstyle and clothes he wore were the main things I put into account when refining Lance's design.

14. Megaman X/Zero - The simplistic robotic designs were helpful in implementing them into my own story without going overly-crazy with details like wires, circuits and the like.
Zero's hairstyle and usage of multiple weapons were a basis for Zack
